Job Description
Lincoln Electric Cooperative is a rapidly growing cooperative serving over 5,900 meters and 960 miles of line in beautiful northwest Montana. Eureka is located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains with abundant outdoor recreation opportunities. Within 10 minutes is Koocanusa Reservoir, numerous lakes, two 18-hole golf courses, and miles of hiking trails. It is also within 1.5 hours of Glacier National Park, Flathead Lake, five ski resorts, and 10 additional golf courses.

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business management with at least three years experience in a complex accounting position. CPA or MBA preferred. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel. RUS Accounting and electric utility experience is preferred. Position reports to the General Manager. JOB SUMMARY: Assists with the billing, payroll and office service functions of the Cooperative. Manages the accounting and financing functions including AP, GL, budgeting and financial planning, investing and banking. In coordination with the General Manager, develops and evaluates programs, policies, methods and procedures related to management and the organization.

Prepares or directs the preparation of the necessary monthly, quarterly and annual financial and tax reports and audits as required by the manager, Board of Trustees, State and Federal agencies and industry-related agencies. Analyzes financial operating reports and interprets unusual variances for management and the Board.

Prepares the general ledger and all subsidiary accounting including receivables, payables, asset & liability records and ensures that the general ledger is in balance and/or reconciled to those subsidiaries.

Supervises cooperative's cash management and investment programs in conjunction with General Manager.

Prepares necessary loan applications, maintains loan fund budget, requisitions and expenditure reports and ensures all loan obligations are met by timely payment of all loans.

Prepares power requirements study, financial forecasts, cost of service studies, rate setting studies, and other analytical studies as needed.

Compiles and prepares annual cooperative budget including operating budget, capital budget and cash flow requirements.

Maintains cooperative insurance coverage. Includes liability, property damage, workers compensation and other needed coverage. Recommends changes in coverage or carriers to general manager.

Responsible for assisting with information technology needs, including accounting and NISC software recommendations

Must maintain consistent communication and cooperation with all departments.

Assists in preparation of Annual Meeting including completion of needed financial reports.

Responsible for all capital credit accounting procedures including yearly allocations, general and estate retirements, and the unclaimed capital credits fund, which can be used for education purposes.

Performs billing software system security administration tasks.

Maintain all aspects of the Economic Revolving Loan Fund and Generator Loan Program, including executing loan documents.

Responsible for the management and review of all financial processes and documents associated with Lincoln Electric’s subsidiary, Rural Propane Services.

Performs periodic training of the position’s critical tasks to fellow employees.

Promotes positive relationships with co-workers, cooperative members and members of the Board of Trustees.

Reviews policies, rules, procedures and regulations essential to efficient operation of the office and makes recommendations to the General Manager if changes are essential.

Performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires high school diploma and 4 year degree in accounting or business administration. CPA or MBA preferred. Must have at least 3 years experience in complex accounting position and Microsoft applications, especially Excel. RUS accounting and electric utility experience preferred.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, members, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in concepts and ideas which arise during the course of the job.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting; thorough knowledge of computer operations and electronic data processing; knowledge of effective supervisory techniques; and the ability to deal with customers and co?workers in a courteous and professional manner.
